Most of us have heard the claims that coffee is bad for our health and that we should try and cut down on our coffee intake, switch to decaf, or not drink it at all. But on the other side of it some of us have heard the stories that coffee is good for us for one reason or another. So which is true, should you be cutting back on your coffee or filling up on it? Here is a look at the different sides of the argument.
Coffee Bad
There are many more claims that coffee is bad for you and so let’s start here. Coffee is full of caffeine which isn’t the best for us or our bodies. It can cause insomnia, nervousness, headaches, increased blood pressure, heart attacks, stomach ulcers, and the list goes on and on. These effects can be at the risk of drinking little amounts of coffee or huge amounts, a lot of it will depend on your general level of health as well. Most doctors and nutrition experts would recommend having no or a little coffee / caffeine intake.
Coffee Good
Is there any good to drinking coffee? There have been reports that coffee actually helps prevent diabetes. Caffeine blocks the glucose intake giving the coffee drinker an anti-diabetic effect. It has also been reported that coffee improves our memory. The caffeine stimulates your brain in such a way that the brain is more open to information and that information being stored, thus improving our memory. Along the grapevine people hear all kinds of stories stating how coffee and caffeine are good for you but many are not scientifically backed up or if they are they ignore all the other effects coffee has on the body.
