Millions of people wake every day and head straight for their favorite cup of morning coffee . For some it will be a black ground roast, while others want a frothy espresso. There is growing evidence that drinking coffee in moderation can actually be good for you. Here are some of the things a lot of researchers are saying about your favorite morning drink.

Some research is pointing to it as being a good combatant of type 2 diabetes, as well as Parkinson's and dementia. Furthermore those who drank it in moderation on a daily basis had reduced instances of heart rhythm problems, strokes and even certain types of cancer.

This all sounds very well and good, but what could be behind this new research? Researchers are quick to point out that it does not prevent any diseases, although the evidence does point to drinkers as having fewer instances of these conditions. Since the research was not exhaustive, it could have been just personal eating habits which made the difference.

Even though there is no solid scientific proof of health benefits, it has been shown to contain antioxidants which have been proven to be good for the human body. Antioxidants have been shown to fight free radicals which damage the body so naturally it would be of particular benefit in this instance.

The impact it may have on type 2 diabetes does look very promising and is based on several published studies. The evidence pointed to the decaffeinated version being just as effective as its caffeinated counterpart. This means it is not the caffeine contained in the product which brings about the benefit.

Researchers believe that it is the minerals found naturally in coffee which provide the extra boost of protection. It is rich in both chromium and magnesium which can aid the body in using insulin. Insulin is used by the body to control the level of blood sugar in the system. It is not to diabetes which makes the body inefficient at handling glucose levels.
