While studies on coffee have shown mixed results on the health effects, There is little doubt that the drink can enhance alertness in individuals and moderate doses of caffeine have been shown by studies to increase memory performance as well. However, for those who are easily irritated by caffeine use, the beverage can also be offered in a decaffeinated form.
Caffeine can be addictive and it can contribute to withdrawal headaches for those who overuse it. The Journal of the National Cancer Institute in 2010 commissioned a study that found that moderate consumption of the drink actually reduced the risk of prostate cancer for men by about twenty percent.

For those who do not wish to ingest the stimulant known as caffeine, a decaffeinated cup may suit them instead. It has the same rich aromatic flavor but without the drug caffeine in it.
