Who founded Lavazza?

The brand Lavazza was founded by Luigi Lavazza. In 1895 Luigi bought a small grocery store in Turin and there he first invented the concept of blend, which is the art of mixing and blending different coffee s together to create the perfect coffee flavour. Luigi began selling the coffee in his grocery store, due to the expense of the coffee it is only sold to a select market, the majority of the products sold were cooking oil, candles and sugar but as the market for coffee increased so did the amount of coffee Luigi sold. Today Lavazza is run by the third and fourth generation of the Lavazza family.

What does Lavazza coffee taste like?

Lavazza pride themselves on the finest blends from a mixture of different coffees, five or six in total. Blends made solely from Arabica beans are sweeter and more fragrant, while blends of Arabica and Robusta have a more full bodied and decisive flavor. The various coffees from Brazil and Central America allow Lavazza to create a wide range of blends and flavours to create the coffee that is so popular today.

Lavazza brand themselves as ‘Italy’s Favourite Coffee’ as they report that 16 out of the 20 million coffee purchasing families in Italy choose Lavazza.

Lavazza today also offer a range of coffee products such as Top Class, Super Crema, Grand'Espresso, and Dek (decaffeinated), each with its own particular aroma and flavor.

The Lavazza logo

The originally Lavazza logo has the brand name with the distinctive ‘A’ in the middle of the word was designed from Luigi’s thoughts that they needed to focus on a single product such as coffee and be professors in that field. There are a few different logos that have been designed over the years some with images of coffee and cups of coffee, but all have the same font used for the Lavazza and all have the A standing out in the centre of it.
