Gaggia – The Coffee Trade

The coffee trade is big business, pulling in in excess of £2.5b a year. The final link in the chain is the person who serves you your coffee in the café, who is known as a barista. A Cornish college sees the importance of this role and are rolling out a course to train a new wave of barista’s to operate the Gaggia coffee makers in the coffee houses up and down the country.

Gaggia – Lessons to be Learnt

The new NVQ level 2 course in barista skills will give the participants 20 hours of training in how to handle Gaggia and other coffee machines to an impeccable standard. By the end of the course, the student will be able to make an espresso of perfection, deliver it with panache and have the Gaggia coffee machine dancing to their tune. The skills learnt will be applicable the world over. In Australia and New Zealand, café workers already require a barista qualification, so, travellers from the UK looking to make a few extra bucks whilst over there would be wise to get this qualification if they want to get their hands on the Gaggia coffee makers of our Antipodean friends.

Gaggia – Cooking Up a Storm

There is really little surprise with this new emphasis on getting skilled workers in cafes. Whilst you are unlikely to eat at a restaurant where a chef has no credentials, many are saying that it is the same principle for making a coffee. It is considered an art and requires flair and passion for the coffee which is what this new NVQ course is hoping to instil in all who enrol. Gaggia coffee machines are the stock and trade of most coffee houses and it is these that the students will need to master if they hope to be named valedictorian come the end of the course.
