Gaggia – Recipes for Success

Coffee is something to be savoured – especially an espresso from a Gaggia coffee machine that has been lovingly prepared. There are perfect accompaniments to a perfect Gaggia espresso, whether it’s a lump of brown sugar, Italian biscuits or a glass of cognac. But Gaggia coffee machines can also help create the perfect espresso for countless coffee recipes - for the ultimate coffee lover.

Gaggia coffee machines – enjoying espresso

Once you’ve made the perfect shot of espresso from your Gaggia coffee machine, you’re ready to collect the ingredients to make East Coffee – a spicy, after dinner cocktail. For four drinkers, you need three shots of espresso from your Gaggia machine. Put the espresso to one side and take out a pan. Put in the pan a small glass of cognac, half a glass of cointreau, a clove and stick of cinnamon and the rind of a lemon. Mix all the ingredients into a pot, and heat gently. Run the mixture through a sieve, then add the Gaggia espresso to the mixture, stirring carefully – voila: a spicy coffee cocktail.

Gaggia coffee cake – Simple but heavenly

If your tastes are more for cakes than cocktails, there can be nothing nicer then a well-made coffee cake. Making coffee cake with espresso from a Gaggia coffee machine will ensure your coffee cake is the best in the business. You’ll need:

  • 200 grams of sugar
  • 100 grams of butter
  • 350 grams of flour
  • Three eggs
  • Four Gaggia espresso shots
  • A pinch of salt and castor sugar to garnish

Melt the butter then simply mix the eggs and sugar. Pour in the melted butter into the mixture along with a pinch of salt, the coffee and flour. Stir until smooth and pour into a buttered baking tin. Cook for 50 minutes in a 180 degree oven. Decorate with a sprinkling of castor sugar once cooled.

If you’re looking for unique recipes, there are certain flavours that sit well will with coffee – cinnamon and brandy for instance – it’s always fun to experiment with your food and drink.
